Homestay Experience

  • Each student is placed with a carefully selected Japanese host family, offering a unique opportunity to build meaningful relationships, practice the language, and gain a firsthand perspective on daily life in Japan. These personal connections often result in lifelong friendships.

  •  The solo program is designed to build self-confidence, independence and resilience. Teens are provided guidance not directives, helping them step out of their comfort zones while knowing they have structured support when needed.

  • Guided by local coordinator, excursion from famous Japanese landmarks to local Wakayama highlights. Examples of local site visits in Wakayama may include: Wakayama Castle, Mount Koya, and the Naichi Waterfall. Students balance cultural depth with fun and memorable exploration—like visiting local sites and participating in unique Japanese cultural experiences, for example taiko drums, calligraphy, tea ceremony, and flower arranging

  • Arrival welcome and round trip airport transfer with Japanese coordinator from Kansai International Airport (KIK).

    Participants book their own flight, 30-60 days before departure Participants are responsible for airport drop off and pick-up in the US.

  • Students are responsible for covering their own flights, spending money, meals outside the home, attraction admissions, and local train or bus fares.
